"Where Elmo?"

The other day I uploaded Elmo videos for Olivia to watch on my computer. Now everytime I open it up, she comes up to me with her arms in wonder of "where Elmo, where Elmo?" I can't resist. Last night and today we cuddled for at least a half hour watching Sesame Street videos. It's the longest she's sat still for anything. She has this new fascination with Elmo-thinking that may be a good theme for Birthday #2.

One day she'll hate me for this one

In the past couple weeks, Olivia has been pointing to her diaper and telling us when she has to "poop" or has "pooped", or is "wet". It doesn't matter where we're at-restaurants, home, friends, etc.-she'll proudly tell us "poop" or "wet". Since she hadn't had a poopy diaper today before her nap at 1, I asked her if she wanted to try to poop on the big girl potty. She got excited and ran right to the bathroom. I sat her on the big toilet first but she didn't like that, so put her on her own potty chair. We tried for at least 5 minutes, but I think she stood up to walk around at least 10 times. We never got the job done, but glad she's getting the concept.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all our family and friends who are mothers, especially our moms, Cindy and Kathee. Thanks for all you do! Hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing day. I got to sleep in until 9 while Pat and Olivia (actually, Olivia ran around the house chasing the dogs) made me breakfast this morning and did all the cleanup. We also drove over to Mankato to do a little shopping and went out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings. I wish Mother's Day was at least once a month. It was a great day and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and daughter. Being a mother to Olivia is the greatest thing.

Curious Georgia at it again

So yesterday I was in the kitchen finishing up making a casserole, and noticed it was way too quite. My sign that Olivia is up to something she's not supposed to be. I went in her room to find her lying on her changing table playing with her wipes. She figured out how to climb up on the little shelf below it and boost herself over to get on top. I couldn't believe it. I got her down and asked her to show me how she did that but told her she could only do it one more time, just to show mommy. (Yeah right-she's going to be scaling that thing every chance she gets) And there she went-she climbed, grunted, boosted herself, and on top she went. Just like that. I was able to capture our little monkey with just my cell phone-didn't think I should run and get the camera and promote it too much. (thus the sub par quality of the pic) I suppose now since the back is higher than the front, we're going to have to turn the changing table around- just like we had to with the crib.

A morning at the park

I'm adding a bunch more pictures to the blog for a number of reasons-1. I just love having my camera back now 2. I love spending my mornings taking Olivia to the park and 3. Because she is just so gosh darn cute with her pig tails it was hard resisting snapping away! This morning we were getting ready to walk to the park & I told her to go get her shoes on. She does such a great job at picking out the exact match out of her 100 pairs of shoes (it seems like that many), but it's about 50/50 if she puts them on the right feet. This morning she comes walking up to me to show me that she got them on but she had put them on the wrong feet, so I told her to turn them around. So what does the little sweetheart do-she starts turning herself around in circles. Oh she makes me smile!
Olivia giving me a heartattack. This is the furthest I'll let her climb this thing, but a few weeks ago I had my back turned & she was standing on the top ring.
She does slides all by herself now, and even climbs the stairs on most of them without me!

Another busy weekend

This past weekend we went to Mpls again. We had a number of things going on . I did a garage sale Thurs-Sat with my friend Holli & got to spend a lot of fun time with her family. Olivia and I drove over Thursday morning. The picture below is of her with her "new" computer. I think this is the longest she sat for me the whole time! She kept me very busy. If we weren't scaling their retaining wall, we were splashing in puddles with her rainboots on. However, that was a fun moment-I think it was her first experience splashing around, and I wish I had my camera. Friday Pat came up in the afternoon and picked up Olivia and went to the Larew's. I had a night off! But, unfortunately, garage sales are exhausting, so we just kicked back anyway. Pat had a seminar all day Saturday so Molly, Andy, and the boys watched Olivia for us. That night, Pat and I went out for a very nice relaxing evening with Holli and Brad and went to The Kona Grill. This morning, Molly and Andy ran a half marathon in the cities, and we watched the boys. I guess my exhausting weekend didn't compare to running a half marathon, but still feel tired by tonight. My exciting news (to me anway) is that I got a new camera lens!! I used some of my garage sale money and just happened to find a brand new lens a guy was selling on Craigslist out of Mpls, so I picked that up this morning. The above pictures are of tonight-I was dying to use my camera again!
